MPO Recap

McBeast is in championship mode. I'm not betting against him this season. And you shouldn't either. It might be early in the season but I think he's going to have one of his best seasons ever. Buckle up 🔥

Round 1 was crazy weather for most (but shorts and hoodie weather for us Minnesotans 😉). Paul McBeth was able to shot a -8 to kick things off. Which landed him on the lead card. Tied with Luke Humpries 🥸 and Nicholas Carl (first ever lead card!). Joined by Andrew Fish (-6).

After round 2, only Paul and Luke were able to stay on the lead card. With Paul at -17 (shooting -9) for the day. Luke one behind at -16 (-8 for the round). Joining them for final day action would be Chris Dickerson (-15) and last years runner up (Cale Leiviska -11).

Paul was focused and never really felt pressure as he would go on to take down his 2nd Waco tournament. Fun fact, Paul forgot his bag on his way to the Memorial and took it down with a new bag pretty much. Paul has 16 elite series win on tour

Shout out to Luke Humpries. He's showing us that he can play golf. Check out the player profile by Jomez at the start of the final round F9. You can watch the feature and lead cards, courtesy of Jomez

FPO Recap

I made it a personal challenge to watch more FPO coverage this year and it's been easy with how exciting and competitive the field is within the top 5-7 FPO golfers. And many more on the come up.

Eveliina kicked things off by taking the lead after round 1... despite not making a Cx1 putt. Impressive.

After the first two rounds. WACO FPO lead card for round 3. Featured Eveliina Salonen (-4) Ohn Scoggins (-2) Valerie Mandujano (-2) and Kristin Tattar (-1)

Round 3 would feature a swing of lead changes. But in the end there would be one. Valerie played amazing golf and ended up taking down her first elite series win. She clutched it with this upshot on hole 17. One of the best of the tournament!

You can catch up on the feature and lead card, thanks to GK Pro.

Quick check in on how we did.

- We got the MPO pick right (Paul Mcbeth). Dickerson and Calvin didn't quite do as well as expected.

- FPO, I had Kristin Tattar winning. But podium pick Valerie secured her first dub!

People Lie. Numbers don't lie 📊

StatMando released their rankings. Which accounts multiple variables. You can compare there's to Udisc and also ours 😉

Luke Humphries jumped from 43rd up to 21st in the UDisc world rankings and from 53rd up to 28th in Stat Mando's new rankings. - Courtesy of PDGA Stats for that tweet. Luke is in my top 25 and quickly climbing!

The Open at The Belton 🥈

No elite series this weekend. But there's still disc golf. 😎 Many of the top professionals will be at the event. This is when Ricky kicked off his dominate stretch last year. He's started this season slow. Will he turn things around this weekend?

Where to watch

The Open at Belton takes place this weekend, starting Friday (March 18th, 2022). It's a 3 round tournament. While it's not an elite, the field is stacked on both sides and will be a tough one to take down. DGN will show the final round live.

The Albatross Predictions?

MPO:

  1. Paul McBeth. He's in championship mode early in the season. He's going to be dominate and have one of his best seasons

  2. Ricky Wyoscki - I think he finally turns on the switch and gives us an exciting battle against Paul

  3. Calvin Heimburg - Calvin has started off slow and just can't put it together. But I expect him to put it together sooner than later

Close runs

Luke Humpries I believe still finishes in the top 5. I also expect Aaaron Gassage and Gannon Buhr to make a strong run.

FPO:

  1. Kristan Tattar - She has been consistent. I think she takes this down

  2. Eveliina Salonen - despite her putting woes, I can't help but think she just hasn't gotten past the nerves. I think she'll make a push this weekend

  3. Valerie Mandajuno - Waco champion will show why she's a top 5 player this season and consistent podium contender

Contenders

Catrina Allen can very well win this. And something tells me I should be picking her to win this weekend.

Who do y'all got winning this weekend? Don't forget to pick your fantasy line up!

In case you missed it:

GK Pro SKINS #52 (and second of the season) dropped. You'll watch to grab your favorite snack, drink and kick back while you watch this entertaining card  😌

Gatekeeper also dropped part 1 of their Iron Man Scratch Match. This time it features Thomas Gilbert vs Ricky. Part 2 is on Rickys channel

  • Who Does Andrew Fish think is the Goat? 🐐

    • By the way, Andrew can golf. He's well rounded and is smooth. He was on RD2 lead card. Thanks Jomez

    • How about Nick Carl also making the lead card, after round 1. He also is a partner in Discura. A new apparel company providing skin protection 🧴🌞
